Financial Aid: How to Apply
Paying for school doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. At Academy of Cosmetology, we guide you step by step through the financial aid process so you can focus on building your career, not stressing about tuition.
Step 1: Complete the FAFSA
Start by filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.gov.
- Our school code is 016785
- If you don’t have internet access, we’ll provide a computer here on campus
- You’ll need to reapply each year if you continue into another program
Step 2: Meet With Admissions
Before aid is awarded, you’ll:
- Meet with the Admissions Office to discuss your program
- Complete entrance counseling (if loans are used)
- Sign a Master Promissory Note (loan agreement) if applicable
Step 3: Submit Any Requested Documents
Once we receive your FAFSA results (called the ISIR), our Financial Aid Office may ask for extra documents like tax returns or proof of income. Be sure to respond quickly so your file is complete.
Step 4: Review Your Award Package
We’ll build a financial aid package for you based on your eligibility and need. This may include:
- Grants (money you don’t repay)
- Loans (money you borrow and pay back later)
If your aid doesn’t cover the full cost, you can pay the difference at registration or through a payment plan.
Step 5: Stay Eligible
To keep receiving aid, you must:
- Be enrolled in an eligible program
- Meet all eligibility requirements
- Maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
Other Financial Aid Options
- Veterans Benefits – We accept GI Bill® and other VA programs. Speak with our VA Certifying Official for details.
- Special Circumstances – If your financial situation changes (job loss, divorce, loss of income, etc.), our Financial Aid Office can review your case under Professional Judgment.
- Third Party Support – We work with FAME, a financial aid management company, to ensure funds are processed smoothly.
